They are then sent into the Empire using their training to create order out of chaos. As Hsulor for the first time journeys away from his people, new thoughts and beliefs begin to chip away at the teachings of the Shingai. And as the consequences of each test grow in magnitude, so to do the consequences of these new ideas. Hsulor begins to lose confidence in himself, his training, and the very essence of what it means to be Shingai.
The
Calling was originally due for release in March 2006 from Gardenia
Press. However, the tragic and unexpected death of Gardenia
Press’s
president led to the release of Matt’s contract with Gardenia
as the company was unable to recover. More information will follow
as Matt begins a new search for publication of his first novel.
Matt wishes to express his thanks to those from Gardenia Press
and wishes them the best as they heal and move on from a painful
